De Japanse keizer Naruhito heeft officieel de troon aanvaard en de belofte afgelegd dat hij zijn plicht als symbool van de staat zal vervullen. De 59-jarige Naruhito deed dat in een eeuwenoude ceremonie in de belangrijkste zaal van het keizerlijke paleis in Tokio in aanwezigheid van staatshoofden en gasten uit meer dan 180 landen.

The Japanese emperor Naruhito has officially accepted the throne and made the promise that he will fulfill his duty as a symbol of the state. The 59-year-old Naruhito did that in an ancient ceremony in the main hall of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo in the presence of heads of state and guests from more than 180 countries.
